About Us

Shaun is an architectural designer, educator, gardener, and the visionary founder of Nature Play Studio. For more than 20 years, she has dedicated herself to working with children, earning the affectionate title of "mom to many" within her community. By blending her professional expertise in architectural design with her passion for hands on learning through outdoor play, Shaun crafts experiences that spark curiosity and connections to the natural world. She believes that the outdoor classroom is the ultimate "studio"—a dynamic space where child-led exploration, playful learning, creative questioning, and sensory play bring education to life. Since 2022, Nature Play Studio has cultivated community with their weekly Nature Play Group, classes, potlucks, and monthly hikes.

Since April 2024, NPS has enjoyed partnering with TLCCLT by introducing Atlanta families to the land and the volunteers who steward it so beautifully. She’s honored to be serving on their Board and giving back to the community.

She was an Evergreen Leader with Tinkergarten, having taught 16 consecutive seasons of TG classes between 2019-2023. She is First Aid/CPR/AED certified. She was trained in Safe Sport for her role as team manager with her son's soccer program.

Her son’s difficult start in a traditional school environment sparked her quest to help reignite a love for learning within him. With Nature Play Studio, she hopes to bring this same spark and love for hands on learning to children all over. Nature Play Studio strives to help children learn more about the world around them through play, hands on learning, making, creating, and wonder! We will work with our hands, ask questions, and discover. Have fun with us!

☀️ In 2025, Shaun had a life change which relocated her back to Pittsburgh, PA with her husband and son. Nature Play Studio in Atlanta continues onward and upward with the amazing leadership team and community of families. Shaun supports and oversees programming and classes remotely at this time.

☀️ We are grateful for all of the indigenous people groups who so beautifully cared for the land we enjoy today. Their care and stewardship is something we should recognize and honor. Let’s continue to be good stewards of the land, trees, wildlife, ponds, lakes, creeks, and rivers. The Atlanta area was historically home to the Muscogee (Creek) and Cherokee peoples.
